Editing notes-Luke Dominey

After filming was finished we started editing straight away, the first step within this was to crop the videos to the correct length, so they can match up to the song itself after that the next step was to match the audio up to the video so that are synced and do not look out of place with each other, and when this is achieved and it could be achieved easier than most people due to the fact we filmed a shot for each second of the film so it only became a matter of lining all the shots and overlaying the song over them, when this was done and the audio was synced to a point that it looked in sync between the audio and the video, after that we started to experiment with green screen effects, the original idea was to put a space style background, but as it did not match up with the feel of the video and the music, we decided to try to see if the band logo would look good on the green screen however the shots filmed during out filming didn’t centre on the green screen which gave the green screen effect, a un-immersive feeling as there was parts of the wall behind the green screen still present when the green screen was added, so from that point, we decided not to use a green screen due to the fact the amount of time needed for it to be effective would be counter-productive, so from that point we focused on polishing the music video, making changes such as effects being used when a drum was hit at a certain point, for example within our video, when the beat of the drum at the start of the third chorus hits the screen turns in a very white focused effect, and after adding a few continuity touches, we decided it was finished for now, and after reviewing the video with a media technician, we decided as a group, to revisit the idea of using the green screen on the approval and advice of the technician, and since the song of short change hero is used in the opening sequences of the TV show “strike back” we decided to put the opening sequence of strike back onto the green screen and decided to work with that, and after that was all completed, we spent a few days with that being our final copy, we looked back and saw that the borderlands 2 opening sequence also featured the song short change hero, and we personally thought that the aesthetics of the borderlands 2 opening sequence fitted the video and song more, we edited that opening sequence in as opposed to the previous one, and we edited certain bits of the opening sequence into the video itself as opposed to it being solely on the green screen
